Golfista estadounidense. Famosa por su swing clásico, sus largos tiros de salida y su notable juego con los hierros, ganó un número récord de 82 campeonatos de la Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), el circuito femenino del golf profesional, entre los cuales se cuentan los inigualables 13 campeonatos ganados en una sola temporada (1963). Además es la única jugadora que ha ganado cuatro veces el Campeonato de la LPGA (1958, 1960, 1961 y 1963). Nombrada dos veces Mujer Atleta del Año por la Associated Press (1963 y 1964), se ha dicho que es la mejor golfista de todos los tiempos.
